The cooperation project with China Petrochemical Group focuses on the extraction of potassium from concentrated seawater after desalination. Potassium is a scarce mineral resource in China, widely used in potassium fertilizer manufacturing, chemical production and other industries. At present, China’s potassium resources mainly rely on imports from Russia, Australia, Brazil and other countries. Up to now, the potassium extraction rate of our products in experiments has reached 80%, far exceeding the average level of the industry, which can effectively alleviate the current situation of China’s dependence on imports for potassium resources.
This seawater desalination enterprise is faced with a core technical challenge: excessive boron content in product water, a common bottleneck across the industry. Currently, the water supplied by the enterprise accounts for 15% of the city’s total water supply, with the rest sourced from inter-basin water diversion projects. After treatment with single-stage reverse osmosis membranes, the boron concentration in produced water generally exceeds 1 mg/L (normally 2 to 3 mg/L, with a peak of over 10 mg/L). According to China’s national standard for drinking water, the boron content must be kept below 1 mg/L. Treated with our resin products, the boron level can be reduced to 0.05 mg/L or even lower, falling below the minimum detection limit of the enterprise’s existing testing equipment. The online approval of this project is progressing steadily at present. As a livelihood project benefiting numerous households, it also plays a vital role in protecting public health. This seawater desalination project is a domestic benchmark with an early start and leading technologies. Once this technology is successfully implemented and promoted, it will serve as a model and be rolled out to 23 seawater desalination enterprises nationwide, including those in Tianjin, Jiangsu, Laizhou and other regions.
The technical problem solved for DM Thermal Power Equipment is the bottleneck that some groundwater cannot be directly treated by RO reverse osmosis membrane. The water purification equipment produced by DM provides fresh water with different indicators for various enterprises by installing RO reverse osmosis membranes, which is widely used in boiler cooling, industrial production and other fields. However, the quality of groundwater varies greatly in different regions. The salt content, alkali content, fluorine and chlorine content of some groundwater exceed the standard, which is beyond the applicable working conditions of RO reverse osmosis membranes; if other processes are used for treatment, there are disadvantages such as cumbersome procedures, high energy consumption and large equipment occupation area. After treatment with our resin products, the desalination rate of groundwater can reach more than 50%, which fully meets the water inlet conditions of RO reverse osmosis membranes and effectively solves the production pain points of the enterprise.
